Wild Country Tent Fabrics Explained

For Wild Country®, our commitment to responsible design is every bit as integral as it is with TerraNova®. The same sustainability principles: lower-impact materials, long-lasting construction, and thoughtful fabric innovation run through the entire Wild Country® range. From the first polymer stage to final production, we work closely with specialist mills to specify fabrics that balance performance, durability and environmental responsibility. Our technologies are developed to provide dependable protection in real-world conditions while reducing the footprint of every tent we make.

AQUASTOP SD™ FABRIC

AquaStop SD™ is an advanced, solution‑dyed polyester ripstop fabric from Wild Country®, engineered to offer reliable all‑weather performance with reduced environmental impact. Built from 68-denier polyester ripstop, it provides an excellent strength‑to‑weight ratio and long‑lasting durability. A PU coating and fully taped seams ensure guaranteed waterproof protection, while a C0water‑repellent finish removes the need for environmentally harmful PFC treatments. The sustainability story continues inside the tent: The inner tent uses recycled polyester ripstop with a C0 finish and solution‑dyed mesh, reducing water, chemical and energy consumption during production. The groundsheet is made from recycled polyester with PU coating, featuring seam‑sealed corners and seams, and finished with a C0 WR treatment for dependable waterproofing. Together, these features create a robust, lower‑impact fabric system suitable for a wide range of conditions.

ELITE FABRIC

The Elite fabric platform from Wild Country® represents our most advanced lightweight specification, combining reduced environmental impact with dependable all-season performance. Constructed from 20‑denier nylon ripstop, it achieves an impressively low pack weight while maintaining excellent fabric stability and long-term resilience. A silicone/PU hybrid coating ensures strong, reliable waterproof performance, and taped seams provide complete protection in sustained wet conditions. Environmental responsibility continues throughout the tent’s internal fabrics. The inner tent uses recycled polyester ripstop with a C0 water‑repellent finish and solution-dyed mesh, chosen to reduce water, chemical and energy consumption during production. The groundsheet is made from recycled polyester with a PU coating, finished with fully seam-sealed corners and seams, and a C0 WR treatment for consistent, long-lasting waterproofing. Tents built with Elite fabrics also feature premium Dyneema® guylines, offering exceptional strength‑to‑weight performance and improved stability in challenging conditions, further elevating the reliability of the Wild Country® Elite range.

Terra Nova Equipment has unrivalled expertise in the development of specialist tent fabric and materials for its award-winning products and this follows through to Wild Country tent fabrics. Our tent fabrics and materials are specified from the first polymer stage, through to final fabric production. Working together with specialist fabric manufacturers we create exclusive, bespoke fabrics that provide optimal performance for specific tent models. The same thought and understanding go into the development of fabrics for use in the Wild Country range as the Terra Nova range.

Stormtex N4000Si

Stormtex N4000Si fabrics are nylon-based with a PU/silicone coating for maximum water resistance. The 30 deniers ripstop construction is 20% lighter than Stormtex P4000 fabrics, allowing tent volume to be maintained but weight to be decreased, offering a better space to weight ratio. Being PU coated the fabric can be taped to provide a fully waterproof seam.

Stormtex P4000

Stormtex P4000 fabrics used in Wild Country® tents have been developed to provide the best performance for the conditions the tents are designed to face. The fabrics are polyester and have a PU/DWR coating to improve water resistance and allow taping, so a fully waterproof seam can be offered. Fabrics tested to the CPAI84 standard for flame retardancy are indicated as fire-resistant. Different weights and weaves of the fabric are used to provide the best performance for specific tent models.
